correction for ABS TSB for the 02/03 WRX

this is an addendum for the thread:
http://www.scoobymods.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5701

I just wanted to point out that the letter which is in that thread is almost the same as the one which went out, but is missing one key phrase - it should read:

Quote:
If you have encountered this set of conditions ans are uncomfortable with the "delayed response feel" upon ABS activation, a complimentary replacement ABS electronic control unit ("ECU") with a different calibration will be available from your Subaru dealer. If you want a re-calibrated ECU installed in your vehicle, please contact your Subaru dealer for availability information and to arrange an appointment. Subaru will have the dealer install a modified ECU in your vehicle at no charge. Vehicles with unauthorized modifications to their brake systems are not eligible to receive a re-calibrated ECU due to potential compatibility problems.
it's not really clear what an unauthorized modification is - I have stoptech stainless lines on my car, but they did the upgrade no questions asked. Also - in a thread over on nasioc, there have been posts that aftermarket pads are ok, too - maybe it's just big brake kits and things like that... in any event, since they don't even have to remove any wheels, etc. to do the change, it's probably really going to depend on how closely the tech looks, as well as what an unauthorized mod really is..

Also - the recalibrated ECU definitely addresses the issue - made a noticeable improvement for me, anyway!
