I was not sure if I wanted to post this, but things have been a little slow lately, so... After looking at some of the mods, I decided to do the foglight mod.* The instructions were simple, but the procedure looked ugly...* This "mod" is actually some tips on how to modify wiring so that it looks good, does not void your warrantee, and doesn't make dealership mechanics think you are attacking your car with a hacksaw.* Over the years, and from several makes of cars, I have found dealers to be more accepting to mods if you look like you know what you are doing and that you can do it well. * They are more likely to deny you if they look under the hood or dash, and see zip wire and duct tape.

The first step in the foglight mod is to find "the orange wire on the big connector" in the back of the fuse box.* At this point, the original poster used a "tap on" connector.* It works, but is obviously a mod.* A different solution is to pull out the orange wire from the connector, and crimp or solder to the existing clip.* Most of the connectors on the Scooby are easy to work with. * They have a big retaining clip that you can release the wires with.

Using a small screwdriver, pry the top (wire side) of the clip away. (I would have shown the screwdriver, but I lost my third hand in the war.)

Now push the bar up (towards the wire) and lift out the bottom.

The wires are no longer attached, and you can just wiggle out the one you need.

At this point, I soldered on a pigtail of wire and added a female bullet connector. * One advantage of bullet connectors over butt connectors is reversibility.* I can pull my mod out in 5 minutes if a dealer is being balky.* Use female for open positive wires, and you don't have a dangling wire with electrical tape.* This is done by Subaru, as you can tell by the big bundle of test wires behind the fuse box. * So now, my mod looks factory, even under the dash. Here is a shot at the relay box. Swap the bullets to go back to stock.
