Coolant mixing

Hello everyone...

I'm going to replace my coolant in a few days for 60k service. I have used pre-mixed (50/50) coolant when i replaced my coolant last time, but this time, i chose to use Subaru OEM coolant. (pure coolant)

I'm just wondering if anyone would have some tips on mixing the coolant. I'm thinking maybe i'll buy a few 1 gallon distilled water bottle and mix it in it.

What if i just pour 1/2 gallon of coolant and 1/2 gallon of distilled water directly to the radiator separately until filled? (i have a feeling that i shouldn't do that... )

some advice/comment appreciated. thanks.

C'mon, CJ. You're not mixing liquid fuels for the space shuttle!

Over the years I've always had an extra empty container of XYZ coolant I keep around. When I buy a new gallon container of XYZ coolant I pour half of it into said empty container and eyeball it to make sure they're even. Add distilled water to both containers and voila! Instant 50/50 coolant!

Even if you poured X amount of water in first and then added X amount of coolant after (or vice versa) I estimate the entire mix would be evenly distributed within the pressurised system within 6.34 seconds. But that's my estimate, others may vary.

Eyeball it, wing it. You don't need beakers and test tubes for this one. If I was in San Jose I might be tempted to run 60/40 (water/coolant) from May to August. But that's just me, I'm not trying to launch a moon rocket or anything.
