On to the Mod, start by removing the airbox. I don't have any good shots of this but here is a description of what to do, it's pretty simple:

Loosen the hose clamp from the tube that goes to the MAF pull the tube off. It may be necessary to remove the other end of the tube too depending on your setup. Unplug the MAF harness. Remove the 2 - 12mm bolts holding the bottom half of the airbox to the lower fender well. The airbox should lift right out now. There is a rubber grommet in the fender that a protrusion fits into.

Look here on how to remove the airbox's rubber gasket to make the opening to the fender larger:

With the airbox out remove the 10 mm bolt holding the front part of the intake above he headlamp and tug the part off, then remove the 10 mm nut holding the top of the silencer off. It's right between the openings in the silencer.

After the car is in the air remove the plastic screws in that hold the wheel well liner in. There are three in the fender and three under the fender in the front (see pics) these can be a PITA to remove. What you need to do is use a phillips screw driver to give the head a little turn, enough for you to get your fingernails under then head. Pull the head out a little then pry out the bottom half. If you pull the head out too far it won't want to come out. It will not need a lot of force to be removed. You just need to have the screw part in the right position.

Once you have all the plastic fasteners out, pull the liner away enough to get at the silencer easly. Next you will need to remove the nut that holds the front lower part of the silencer in place. It's tough to see but I got a pic of the nut. I found it best to kind of go by feel. I reach my arm up in by the nut, holding the 10mm open end straight up at around 12:00 and put the bottom of the wrench on the nut to get it loose. Once it's loose enough you should be able to get it off with your fingers.

After the bolt is off get by the wheel well at the side of the car and you will have to finagle the silencer out of the fender. There is a little cross fender support that seems to get in the way. I was able to get it out w/o removing it. The brace can be rotated out of the way a little. When the silencer is out, remove the little washer and rubber bit that is on the front support for the Silencer. It will most likely fall off eventually if you don't .

Now you can put the wheel well liner back together. Push the plastic fasteners back in place and give the head a twist to make it snug. Look at the other side and compare the front and inner wheel well liner to be sure you have it positioned properly.

The next thing you should do is remove the rubber gasket from the airbox as per the link in the first post. Then line the hole in the fender where the airbox will meet with some foam to make sure you get fender air. Put the airbox back in place, be sure to plug back in the MAF and tighten the hose clamp. Then install the fender plug if you got one. Duct tape will work to cover the hole but the fender plug looks nice and has an OEM fit.

That's it
