P>The horns I installed cost something like 20 bucks and sound really
loud. They are the trumpet type FIAMM style.

Basically what I did was remove the stock horn and used that spot to mount
one of the horns and mounted the other horn using a bolt by the ABS
unit. I ran the wires from the passenger side horn under the grill (after
removing it) to the OEM wiring harness and tapped into it. So I have both
horns running off of the OEM wiring. I haven't had any trouble with the
relay. It handles both horns just fine. The grill comes off very
easily. There are 2 holes on the top side of the grill that you can see
after you lift the hood. I think there are pics of this. What you have to
do is put a small screw driver down there and press on the release clip
. Pull the grill away towards you enough to clear the hole and them pull
up/out and it will come right off.

I made my own wiring harness with wire and electrical tape. I just
measured out the wire and then wrapped it tight with the tape. I secured
everything with wire ties. I just used the Vampire taps to tap into the
OEM horn wire for the passenger side horn.

The horns I used are called WoLo or something like that. They have 2 wire
attachments and not one. This is the same as the OEM horn. If you can
find FIAMM that's even better. I have done the same thing to my wife's
Outback with the FIAMMs but I can't find them anymore. The ones I have are
exactly the same as far as I can tell, down to the color.

The horns only came with mounting brackets, no wire. I used wire a little
thicker than the stock wire. It's something like 16 gauge. Like Speaker
wire. The wire I used was the stuff I got with the PIAA fog lamps I got
for my wife's car. But you can pick up a spool at the auto parts place. I
got the taps at the auto parts store too. They are the type that go over a
wire and you lay the wire you want to connect to by it and clamp down, it
makes a connection by biting through the cover of each. Make sure you get
the right tap for the right wire size. Were you able to see the pics
OK. I haven't looked at them for a while.

I almost forgot. you'll also need those spade connectors (female type) for
the other horn. The OEM wire ends have spades that fit right on the
horns. And one more thing I almost forgot. Remove the battery to do the
work by the drivers side. I tried to do it at first with it there, but it
was impossible.

I've always been dissatisfied with the horn in my '00 RS. Very wimpy, won't scare off someone in a Land Grabber that's trying to
merge into me.

Chris K. from the STi list has mentioned that a smaller verison of the hella horns "Compact" ones will fit both horns where the OEM horn is with a lot less trouble. Here is how he describes it:

My favorite horns are the Hella Supertone - but they don't fit in
the stock location (too big in diameter). I fiddled with alternative
mountings (like on the ABS pump) but was never happy. I tried other (cheap) aftermarket horns, like the FIAMM that have been mentioned in a few places, but didn't like the results.

I recently discovered the Hella "Compact" horn (p/n 85104). These
are about the same diameter as stock, a little thicker - a
"folded horn" design (looks sort of like a snail shell). They
fit in the stock location - both of them! (I can only guess
that deleting the second horn was another cost saving option?)

Anyway, they were an easy fit, they're rated 115dB, which should
be more than double the volume of the stock horn marked 110dB ... they certainly sound a lot louder, and the two-tone always seems to cut through noise better.

Got them at Susquehanna Motorsports, http://www.rallylights.com/,
for $33 shipped.
