I was having problems with the spray nozzles on our 97' Legacy. The drivers side worked fine but the passenger side would sometimes not spray, spray weakly or only out of one of the two nozzles. I tried cleaning out the nozzle holes with a pin but it never lasted very long. The clog would return. I decided to take the spray head off and see what was up. The spray head is held in place by the pinch clip shown. I used some angled needle nose pliers to remove it. There is a clear tail tube that leads to a black connector. The connector had an arrow on it pointing in the direction of the nozzles so I figured it was a check valve. I removed the clear tube with the valve attached. I removed the check valve and ran some water backwards through the nozzle head and saw that there were of black specks in the tube. The source of my clogging problems. Also, the check valve had a clog because I could blow through both ways. After running some hot water through the valve and blowing through it a few times it started working again. I put the whole deal back in place on the car and it works fine now. I did re-aim the spray by putting a pin in the nozzle hole and moving the pin around. Each nozzle outlet is like an eye socket and can be moved. It's a little tricky, a small movement makes for a big difference where the spray goes. At first I was going over the car hitting the rear window. I aimed them pretty high on the wind shield so at highway speeds they should hit a little lower down. If you have a rear washer, it adjusts the same way. The pin aiming trick only works in nozzles that have distinctive streams. Other types that fan type spray the fluid can not be adjusted with a pin.
