Hi folks,
I thought I'd put up info on how to install these since it took me a little while to dig up the info. Boost cut is pretty common on STi's with freed up exhausts.
I pulled the color codes and ECU pin outs for the STi's ECU from the service manual so that this could be done inside the cabin at the ECU instead of in the engine compartment.
This was done with the HKS FCD, but it also applies to the MRT version (and possibly others). The wire colors may differ, but it'd be easy to get the equivalents.
Disconnect the Negative lug on your battery.
Unscrew the large door sill fastener just under the dash. Also carefully pop out the round peg in the portion near the door hinge area. Now the plastic piece will pop right up with some vertical tugging.
Unscrew the large carpet fastener that's further forward from the one you removed earlier. Carefully pry the edge of the carpet up by inserting a screwdriver into 2 plastic clips under the edge of the carpet. It's pretty obvious when you see it, but it can be missed. Fold the carpet away from the ECU cover and make room to work.
Remove the ECU cover by unscrewing the 3 10mm bolts and the 10mm nut up on the top of the shield.
Unplug all the plugs on the ECU by pressing the little locking tab down and pulling the plug away from the ECU. Don't pull by the wires.
Locate pin 22 on plug C (136). See the image below. Remove tape, peel back sheathing, then locate, cut & strip the Yellow/Black wire such that there's enough room to solder each end.
Solder the appropriate FCD wires to these 2 cut wires. For the HKS, the Yellow wire goes to the wire we cut on the ECU side. The White wires goes to the other one (towards the MAP sensor). Tape well. Restore sheath & additional tape.
Attach the ground (Black) FCD wire to a ground location. I connected it to the lower stud/nut holding the lower portion of the ECU.
Attach the Positive (Red ) FCD wire to a 12V switched positive power location. The Yellow/Blue wire coming out of pin 6 on plug B (135) on the ECU works well. Carefully strip insulation back, but don't cut the wire. Solder the FCD Power (Red) line to this wire. Tape well.
Secure the FCD (I used Duct Tape), set it to the correct setting (10 on the HKS), tidy up & secure wires, then plug everything back in and close up in reverse order. You might hold off if you need to do some testing to ensure it's working and set properly.
Reconnect the battery and test.
Here's a diagram of the wire locations and plug configurations:
