I've been generally unhappy with the aftermarket part availability for the XT. With only one cat back out there I thought I'd try something different. SPT recently came out with one for the WRX at a very attractive price. It's made by Bosal and is a full 3" stainless except for the neck down to the stock center section. I gambled that it may work out or I would have to modify it. I found one for $350 shipped and bought it.
Well it doesn't bolt on. It was delivered with a hanger arm bent 45deg. And the one on the front of the can was welded on backwards by the South African welder. I checked it's backwards to the WRX as well. Must have been made on a Friday. When I tried to install it, the tip was on the bumper cover and the pipe was very close to the CV coming out of the diff.

Since it's SS and I don't TIG weld, I took it to a welding and exhaust shop. About 45 minutes later and it was done. They made a nice triangulated mount. Not shiny but who gets down on their hands and knees and looks at the hanger arms anyway?

Pipe with plenty of clearance over the diff. Still 7" of ground clearance. I'm very happy with it, especially at $350 + $50 welding and installation. Sound is aggressive, it being an upgrade for a WRX. It may be a multi chamber design but it definitely doesn't have any wool in it.
