Hey all,

After gleening alittle from just about every mod on this site, I thought I'd share one of mine that I haven't seen here.

I wanted to get more air to the front of the IC, as I noticed most of the debris that makes it into the scoop winds up in the back. And I couldn't justify the money for a new scoop plate with one of those baffles in it to re-direct the air down to the front of the IC, so for around $6 I made my own.

I won't bore you with gorey details. The metal used was 1/16" thick aluminum 1 1/2" wide. I wouldn't go smaller than this, because you won't grab any air then. Bigger would be ok, and it might be interesting to experiment with larger width deflectors (up to a point) to try and even out the flow.

This is the stock panel removed from the hood. It's a pretty painless operation to get it off.

Here's a close up of the passenger side of the scoop plate.

I simply cut and filed a piece of 1 1/2" wide aluminum strip, 1/16" thick, into the shape you see installed here. I painted it with high temp black, then drilled holes and fastened it with stainess steel screws.

Here's a pic of the same side, with the deflector installed and the scoop plate re-installed into the hood. I also drilled out some more holes on the turbo side to get more air down there as well. I've got to get back in there and neaten them holes up a bit, but for now it'll work. (It was cold out!)

and a pic of the driver's side. I sprayed the screws with the high temp black as well to dim them down a bit.

One last pic from a bit further back to show how it will help deflect more air down to the front of the intercooler. And it didn't cost 120 bux!
