Electric trunk pop w/o an alarm is easy. Ground the solenoid and run the push button switch to 12 volts. I recommend SPAL's 35 Lb pull solenoid that they use for thier popper kit. The DEI 522T may also work. Most others will NOT work. I have tried the el cheapos and they don't have the guts and I install these things often.

If you have an alarm with a extra channel, you can add eltronic trunk pop off that channel and also use a switch. But for security purposes I would not add the switch.
It is simple. Find the alarms extra channel. It should be a negative 250mA output. Meaning a low amperage - 12V out. Do not connect this to the solenoid! Use a relay. Any standar bosch 5 or 4 pole relay should work. These can be found in fog light kits or at Stereo shops or auto part stores. It has 4 or sometimes a 5th center pole. We will only need the outer poles/ tabs
Connect +12 Volts to the 87 and 86 numbered poles. The numbers are next to ther tabs. Take the alarms -12 Volts 250mA auxiliary channel output and connect it to the #85 pole/tab. Now connect a wire to the #30 pole/tab and run it to the solenoid. When the remote channel is used this will provide + 12 volts to the solenoid.
Please see pic of relay

Next is mounting of solenoid.

Mount the solenoid close to the trunk release lever. In this case I mounted it in the trunk lid. There was not enough space to mount in in the lower trunk lock area. I connected my cable to the lever for the emergency trunck relaese that is located in the trunk lid. The solenoid only has a 1 inch throw, which is more that a cheap solenoid which may have only a 1/2 to 5/8 throw. So it allows for a lil slop in the cable. Always try to keep the cable straigh t and inline with the trunk cables release so it does not bind at either end.

After pic. Showing solenoid and cable. Allow extra cable for adjustment. Don't cut anything yet!
