After reading both mods, how to make your Subaru unlock in one button press (http://www.scoobymods.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=3077) and how to wire up an electronic trunk pop (http://www.scoobymods.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=3175) an idea popped into my head. After doing the one touch all door unlock mod you would have an extra channel (where Wire 7 used to go) on the alarm/keyless entry system that you could use with a relay to operate the electronic trunk release. This method would work great because 1) when you press the unlock button twice the trunk would pop. 2) You couldn't open the trunk without disarming/unlocking the car so the alarm would never go off arbitrarily. 3) Bye-Bye trunk scratches where the key missed the hole (mine doesn't have any but yours does)

I will be glad to do a write-up once I actually get the guts to do some modifications on my new Scooby. The old BMW was one thing because I knew the car like the back of my hand and I had modded the whole electrical system but the brand new car is a different story. I put this idea out there to those of you that have already done the one button unlock and were looking to add the convenience afforded to other makes of cars of opening your trunk without the key. I will not be offended if someone jumps the gun on writing up the mod as long as you throw some credit my way. This is my first mod to the Scooby and I haven't even done it yet heh. Enjoy.

After reading your post I got all excited and was even going to run and get an electric trunk release, but I wanted to be sure of the wiring first, so I checked the wiring diagram. It would work, but #7 also gets a power signal from the door lock/unlock switches inside the car, so whenever you or your passenger unlock the door from the inside, the trunk would open. (possibly while moving)

it would still be posable to do it if you disconnected the wire from the unlock side of the interior switches and used it to power a seperate relay that was spliced into the #8 wire.

I am not sure if back feeding 12 volts into the #8 side of the module when it isn't active would be harmfull or not so I would stick a diode in there just to be safe.

PM me for a wiring diagram.
