I hate having to pull that little screw jack out of the trunk every time I want to raise my Subaru Legacy. So I built this simple
accessory (http://geocities.com/gvcache/jk.html) which allows me to use my floor jack at the factory designated jacking points along the side of the car. An idea I thought perhaps others could use.

The body seam under the lower side panels on my '97 Subaru Legacy are vulnerable to damage when jacking the vehicle or setting it down on jack stands.
It's a lot of trouble to pull out that little screw jack from the spare tire compartment every time I wanted to climb under the car.
To prevent damaging the seam and to allow for greater versatility in the placement of the floor jack and jack stands, I made this little accessory to fit inside the cup of my floor jack.
It only requires a six inch piece of 2" by 1/4" flat bar steel and another six inch piece of 3" by 3/4" box steel (cut in two).
Here are a few images of the finished product for anyone who might want to put one together for themselves.
Note that the ends of the base plate are rounded for a better fit into the floor jack cup.

ADDITIONAL NOTES: I welded the individual pieces together. But I believe brazing would work just fine and you don't need a full oxy-gas rig to braze.
