STEP 1: Jack the front of the car up, placing jack stands under the front subframes. See your owner’s manual for correct locations.

STEP 2: Open your hood and remove the ram-air scoop by removing the two (2x) 10MM bolts holding the intake scoop in place. The ram-air scoop will pop off the OEM air silencer box ducting.

STEP 5: Under the right front bumper you will see a plastic cover (lower cover) with a channel or half a duct that feeds air to the brakes. At the front of this lower cover there are two (2x) plastic fasteners (see photo at left for locations). To remove, simply twist and pull out.

STEP 6: Inside the fender area there is one (1x) plastic fastener. Turn your wheel to the right to gain access to this fastener shown in the picture.

**NOTE FOR WRX WAGONS AND SOME ’03 AND ’04 WRX OWNERS: If you’re lower cover doesn’t look exactly like this, remove all of the Philips head plastic fasteners and remove the lower cover entirely.**

STEP 7: Pull down on the lower cover and fold it back toward the right front tire. Looking up inside the fenderwell, you will see the OEM black plastic air silencer box.

**NOTE FOR WRX WAGONS AND SOME ’03 AND ’04 WRX OWNERS: If your lower cover doesn’t look exactly like this, don’t fold it back. You must remove the entire lower cover.**

STEP 8: Remove the two (2x) 10MM nut/washer combos from the OEM air silencer box and save them for later use with the Air Silencer Eliminator kit. One of the nut/washer combo’s is located up inside the fenderwell and the other nut/washer combo is inside the engine compartment. Refer to picture on the right to see where on the intake silencer they’re located.

STEP 9: Push the ducting out of the air intake box and down the fenderwell; making sure the stud where one of the nut/washer combos was on is pushed inside the fenderwell area. Go under the car and pull out the OEM air silencer box. You might have to wiggle it and exert a lot of force to maneuver it out of the fenderwell.

STEP 10: (OPTIONAL) It is recommended that you paint the Air Silencer Eliminator at this time. Paint as seen in Step 11 (white/black) for the best stock look and the coolest temperatures.

STEP 11: Once the silencer is removed, assemble the Air Silencer Eliminator ducting and hardware. Install the supplied 6MM bolt and washer. Reaching into the ducting, install the bolt and washer into the pre-drilled hole on the Air Silencer Eliminator with the threaded end protruding out of the duct. Install one of the previously removed 10MM nut/washer combos on to the bolt on the exterior of the duct, with the front of the washer facing away from the duct. Tighten the nut just until it touches the duct. DO NOT OVER-TIGHTEN, it is used only as a spacer. You may need to hold the bolt with a metric allen wrench.

STEP 12: You are now ready to install the new ducting. From under the car, place the duct up into the fenderwell. Put the round end into the rubber grommet (see right arrow) on the air intake box. Make sure the bolt goes through the hole on the fender sidewall (see left arrow). Have someone help line all this up for you.

STEP 13: THIS IS THE MOST CRITICAL STEP FOR A GOOD FIT! Use the nut in between the duct and fenderwall as an adjuster. By moving it up and down the bolt you can adjust the fit. If your new duct protrudes too far out of the fenderwall, you can adjust this with the nut! Some ducts may fit perfect; some may be off slightly. CAUTION: Do not over tighten the nut against the duct! If you have any questions about this adjustment process, please feel free to email us at stealthcomposties@hotmail.com.

STEP 14: Use the remaining 10MM nut/washer combo and install it on the bolt threads protruding through the fenderwall. Tighten it to about 5 to 8 ft-lbs.

STEP 15: Re-install the air filter element and the air intake box cover. Reconnect the wires to the mass air sensor and reposition the hoses and cables back to their original locations. Go back under the car and fold the lower cover back up and re-install the opened (2x) black fasteners, by pushing on the fasteners to lock them in.

STEP 16: IMPORTANT! Because the new duct has a larger diameter than stock, you will need to slightly modify the ram-air scoop where it attaches to the new duct. On the duct end of the ram-air scoop you need to use a sanding drum or rotary file to grind some of the ridges (see arrow) down and slightly open up the size of the ram-air scoop duct so that it fits over the new duct’s larger than stock diameter. Sandpaper will work, but will take longer because of the tough plastic material.

STEP 17: Re-install the ram-air scoop onto the Air Silencer Eliminator duct and re-install the two (2X) 10mm bolts.
