What I miss from my 97 Impreza that my 99 OB lacks is the side blinkers on the car. I think that its a great safety feature, for others around me (read= those in my blind spot). This mod will handle that, and help those who want to have extra visual indication that your blinkers are on (for those with the stereo too loud, or hard of hearing - Dad).

So, I was thinking about putting some on my car, and also thinking about where to put them as well. I was thinking about the Mercedes and the Fords, and how they have them on the mirrors, and then the BMWs, where they are in the side bumper moulding. I have devised, and finished my product.

I got a 4-LED mini light bar off Ebay, and installed
it on the bottom of my mirrors (kinda like the MBs).
Looks pretty good, and kinda hidden.

I got the LEDs from David Riddle Co. (http://stores.ebay.com/DAVID-RIDDLE-COMPANY_W0QQsspagenameZl2QQtZkm) on Ebay.

Here are the tools you will need.

Pry-er for getting off the door handles, phillips-head SC for removing mirrors, 2 drill bits (1/4" and 3/32") for drilling post and wire holes, awl for marking drill locations, hanger and needle-nose for "wire fishing". Also, what i did not pic: vampire clamps and wire u-end for wiring.

Locate the position for drilling of the holes. I put mine 3/4" back from the open end of the mirror, to not inhibit the movement fo the mirror.

next, fish just a little bit of your wires through the big hole, and pull them back out the front end of the mirror housing.

try and fish some slack through, as you are going to have to fish the wire through the corner of the housing, toawrds the end that screws to the car.

Fish the rest of the wire through the corner of the housing, and out the corner here. This is where you will use the wire hook and/or the needlenose pliers. once you have this end through, start to fish the rest of your wires through.

this is what they look like when they are mounted. the 1/4" mount has a "barb" on it, as to prevent it from slipping out. also, i put a little rubber cement on the back side, to ensure my grip (this will be out in the weather, after all).

i mounted the mirror back on the car, and put the wire through the hole for the power mirror cord, and then the rubber weatherstripping, and through the door jamb.

Next, I ran the wires through the body panels, and then ground to one of the 2 bolts near the strut towers. i kept the power running along the body panel toward the corner lamp.

Taking off the corner lamp with the lone screw in the corner, gently take it out. i then ran my power lead from the side blinker to the wiring harness for the corner lamp. using a vampire clamp, i put the blinker power on the line with the WHITE STRIPE on it (Drivers Side= Green/White :: Pass Side= Red/White).

Now, test!:D

Working.

Re-connect the power mirror, window, and door controls, and put back together the door panel.

Email me with any Qs.

The LEDs come with the *simple* instructions, and the template for the drilling. very easy. my hardest part was getting the mirrors OFF. one screw had to be removed by other means.

Depending on your comfort level with electricity, how meticulous you are with wiring and details, this project can take between 1.5-3 hours.
