My fog light indicator bulbs blew long ago. Unfortunately my local subaru guru in Hawaii didn't know there were little bulbs. He said I had to replace the whole switch. That sounded funny so I took the switch apart.
Sure enough, two bulbs. One is orange (the "on" indicator) and one is clear (to light the symbol/graphic with your dash lights.)
The orange one is a clear bulb with an orange cover and a higher mA rating to push the light out through the cover.
Subaru Part numbers are:
83426AA040 clear bulb
83426AA051 orange

Subaru parts.com has ONE in stock at over 2 bucks each + shipping of $7.95
Subaru dealers want them for about 3- 5 dollars each.

I needed 4. two for my cruise and two for my fogs.

So the search was on. I found a suitable replacement at Radio shack for 1.49 for TWO.
The only trick is this:
Subaru bulbs come with the holder and orange condom. The radio shack bulb must be installed in the holder. This is VERY easy.

Radio Shack PN 272-1092 (#7219 Micro Lamp- 12V 60mA)

Removal:
1. Remove coin tray.
2. Reach up behind fog switch and push out while wiggling. If your fingers are long enough you can push on the retaining tab on bottom of switch, but that's really hard. Push hard. Switch will pop out.
3. If cruise lights are out also, now reach in through the hole where the fog switch was and push out on cruise switch.
4. Disconnect plug from rear.
5. Take switch to work station.
6. On passenger side of switch, locate two round plastic sockets. This is the light socket
7. Turn sockets CCW with small screwdriver. Only takes about 45-60 degrees of rotation.
8. Remove socket. This may require a small pin to motivate it out of the switch.
9. Unwrap old bulb leads from socket. TAKE NOTE OF ORIENTATION OF WIRES
10. Pull bulb from socket.
11. Install new bulb from Radio Shack in socket
12. Wrap bulb wires same as old bulb, trim off excess.
13. Re-install socket with bulb in switch.
14. Install plug in switch
15. Install switch in dash.
16. Smile. You just saved over 3 bucks a bulb for an extra 30 seconds of work.

If desired, using a small pin, slowly work orange condom off of old bulb for installation on new bulb. I didn't use the orange condom because you don't really need it. Besides that, nothing else is orange on your dash. All dash illum. is green.

Pics to follow after lunch.
