Here is how you can mount a fire extinguisher or other equipment to the deck lid without drilling holes.

1. Get some expanding drywall anchors. The type you want have two spring-loaded wings that snap into position once you have them inserted through the hole.

2. Pop the drywall anchors through the 3/4" diameter holes in the underside of the deck lid.

3. Mount your equipment and tighten up.

Here is the fire extinguisher, mounted in the trunk. This one is a 5BC model, made by First Alert.

Here is the drywall anchor you want to use for this.

One more thing: Here is how you can mount your first aid kit or other lighweight item to the deck lid.

1. Thread about 6 feet of 1/4" bungee cord through the large holes underneath the shelf.

2. Make an 'X' out of the cord, and tie the ends together.

You can now hang a case or bag from this, without reducing trunk space.
