Install of STi Lower Arm Bar
I've been thinking about doing something like this for a while. Those eBay H-bars look pretty good, but I am a little hesitant to replace a piece that lends structural rigidity to the chassis with an aluminum replica H-bar.
However, adding something on is a different matter. Enter a few hundred unused subaru bucks that were just sitting around. Props to Jamie at Chaplins Subaru for hooking me up with this and a bunch of other goodies!! The kit is laid out below. Unfortunately the instructions are in Japanese, but it's essentially a simple bolt-on bar. Just unscrew the two 12 mm bolts near the back of the front jacking plate and the 17 mm bolts near each A-arm. Hold the new bar in place and screw back in the 12 mm bolts. Then use the supplied new *shorter* 17 mm bolts to attach the ends to the frame. Finally, use the supplied braces to secure the 17 mm bolts and prevent them from loosening. They attach with 10 mm bolts and nuts. Last edited by cannibal869; 10-21-2005 at 11:59 PM.. |

I overtorqued one of the bolts. Luckily, I happened to have a replacement available. ![]() |
