Oil change panel cover fasteners.
I’m tired of wrestling with the fasteners for the oil change service panel cover. They can become a PITA to reinstall after a couple of uses. So I came up with this mod. I’ve replaced the six fasteners with “U Extended Speed Nuts” and 3/4" SS 1/4-20 bolts with washers. For three of them I had to trim a little plastic off the edge lip. On one I had to slide it under the metal reinforcement instead of onto the plastic panel itself. While the last one needed a hole cut in order to slide it in place.
I would recommend removing the whole panel before trying to install the new clips. It is easy to pull off. It is held in place with 4 - 12 MM bolts and some plastic fasteners. Which BTW are a much better design. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Last edited by Peaty; 12-04-2005 at 06:41 AM.. |
