PIAA driving lights - high beam wire

Hi all,

I just put some PIAA driving lights (520 ATP) on my 03WRX. They are really quite bright and give lots of extra illumination. I would like to have them connected so that they can only be turned on with the high beams.

This light assembly includes a PIAA relay with a wire that is supposed to be attached to the (+) line of the high beams. Looking at the bugeye head lamp wiring harness, I saw 3 wires....probably for ground, low, and high beams. I tried to see which would be the correct one and found that the right most wire (if looking at the car) is the high beam.

Everything works fine in that the PIAA lights can only be turned on with high beams when the bugeye lights are already on. However, when the bugeye lights are off and the e-brake is lowered, the PIAA lights come ON. The PIAA lights turn OFF if the e-bray is engaged. I then tried the other 2 wires of the bugeye harness and had the same e-brake effect.

I'm wondering if this might have anything to do with the DRL (I've already unplugged the harness by the wastegate solenoid, but nothing done with wires near the ECU yet). Any thoughts? Thanks!

I had this same setup (just sold all 4 lights) on my STI and never had this problem. I had DRLs deleted though.

Got it working!

I simply unhooked the DRL module as based on this link here.
